Return to Harlow and Trip to see Yoko Ono

By this time, most of the class in harlow had returned back to the campus. even with the late arrivals back, Gerard had a day trip into london planned for this day. A combination of my experiences dealing with closed trains and line, along with the general lateness of everyone made gerard conclude on a no-go day into london. we were instead all set to just meet at the classroom at 10PM.

We met and were presented with the tickets to see Yoko Ono performing with her Plastic ono band. I decided to go and, given the jazz setting of the surrounding festival and her old age, she really put on an entertaining show.

the First third of the set did feel a bit too “rocky” for my tates and expectations, but she played to her experimental edge for the rest of the show. A long-clip of her nude body being explored by a housefly was presented, as well as a surprise collaboration with Jazz great Ornette coleman (the guy inspiring the festival). all in all, it was a great show to go see. as well.

was the flashlight-lit message behind her whole show (it means ‘i love you’). each member of the audience was given an “onochord” or small flashlight to take part in the performances with the simple message of “i love you”. thanks, yoko!
